- Is it part of the Campus Faculty Association (CFA)? The Non-Tenure Faculty Coalition, Local 6546, is a legally distinct organization with its own constitution, elected officers, and finances. The two organizations co-operate closely due to their common interests and history.
- How did it form? In May 2014, the Campus Faculty Association presented a majority of signed union authorization cards to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. The Board then certified the non-tenure-track bargaining unit at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as being represented by a new union, Local 6546.
- Which state or national unions is it affiliated with? The Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).
