CFA Position and Analysis on Pensions Bill SB 512

The Illinois state legislature is currently preparing to vote on SB 512, a bill that would have substantial negative effects on the pension benefits of present and future U of I faculty as well as thousands of other state employees. CFA opposes the passage of this bill. We have produced an analysis and position paper on this bill. We believe this bill will negatively impact faculty pensions, shifting more risk and  burden onto us while the state, which has run up a deficit of $85 billion in the pension fund washes its hands of its wrong doing.
