Happy May Day! Now that the University Administration has found the money to establish a minimum wage for full-time non-tenure-track faculty at this campus, I can pay a few bills. What do you think?

Dear Max,
I’m happy that a good number of the people who work so hard and teach so many of our students are going to be doing a bit better. It’s proof that the administration is finally taking the unionization campaign seriously. If faculty can get this improvement simply by talking about a union, imagine what they could get if they had the legal right to bargain with the employer. Of course, the faculty union at UI Chicago has already shown us what can happen. Big congratulations to them, too, on their contracts!
